## [2026-07-01] Reorganization of some MeteoSwiss collections, decommissions Swiss Geological Survey

- MeteoSwiss has reorganized the data downloads for climate normals and hail hazard data. With that the following previous data collections are outdated and will therefore be decommissioned soon, while the corresponding maps on mapviewer and the portrayal services remain published:

- The layer _ch.swisstopo.geologie-geocover_ will be decommissioned later in 2026 (substituted by a new product consisting of 6 new layers)
- The following layers from Swiss Geological Survey will be removed from all FSDI services with the release of October 7th 2026:

The data collection _ch.bfs.generalisierte-grenzen_agglomerationen_g1_ offers various assets/geodata formats for download: The assets for CSV (.csv.zip), File Geodatabase (.gdb.zip) and Google KMZ (.kmz.zip) will be deprecated soon and replaced by 2 new assets for OGC Geopackage (.gpkg) and geoJSON (.geojson), while the Shapefile assets (.shp.zip) will remain available

- The MeteoSwiss climate normals data are now available for download in the data collection _ch.meteoschweiz.ogd-climate-normals-grid_ also in COG TIFF format. - The MeteoSwiss hail hazard data are now available for download in the data collection _ch.meteoschweiz.ogd-radar-derived-grid_ also in COG TIFF format. - The _ch.bazl.luftfahrthindernis_ layer group contains a significantly increased number of objects from now on. Poles and individual segments of high-voltage transmission lines are now available in the dataset.
- The layer _ch.swisstopo.geologie-geocover_ will be replaced by 6 new layers in course of an upcoming new data product swissGEOCOVER2D later in 2026. Details to follow soon.
- 14 layers from swisstopo's Swiss Geological Survey will be decommissioned later in 2026. For details, see [End-of-life](https://docs.geo.admin.ch/page/end-of-life.html)
- For some layers, the `LegendURL` returned in the WMS GetCapabilities response now points to the official legend image hosted on api3.geo.admin.ch instead of the WMS GetLegendGraphic URL. The GetLegendGraphic request itself remains unchanged.
