Electronic Speed Controller v1 is a compact, high-performance ESC designed for multirotor and experimental motor control applications.
The design follows the AM32 ESC hardware architecture and is built around the STM32G071KBU6 microcontroller. It focuses on efficient power delivery, accurate current measurement, robust gate driving, and high-current PCB layout in a compact form factor.
Project status: ongoing testing
Hardware fabricated, testing is currently in progress.
This project is intended for learning and portfolio building and reflects real-world ESC and power electronics design practices.
Two hardware variants are implemented. The only difference between the variants is the MOSFET selection, allowing direct comparison of switching behavior, efficiency, and thermal performance while keeping the remainder of the design identical.
This project is designed to explore:
- AM32-compatible ESC hardware design
- High-current PCB layout and copper optimization
- MOSFET selection and comparative evaluation
- Low-side current sensing techniques
- Three-phase gate driver integration
- SWD-based firmware flashing and debugging
- STM32G071KBU6 motor control microcontroller
- AM32 firmware architecture compatibility
- Two MOSFET variants with identical electrical design
- Three-phase gate driver using DRV8300DRGER
- Precision low-side current sensing
- Dedicated linear regulators for logic and analog domains
- SWD pads for programming and debugging
- Four-layer PCB with 3 oz copper
- Optimized layout for thermal performance and EMI control
Two electrically identical ESC designs are included in this project. The only difference is the MOSFET selection.
