Clarify "Specify original" and adjacent OoS rule#128
Conversation
- Strictly refer OoS on the OoS rule to avoid duplicate mentions - Add mention on cover unifier as first priority - Put external link in higher priority following the "Specify original" priority - Adjust for clearer language - Add excerpt and related rules

Hmmm...this doesn't quite work. Ignoring some fixable syntax problems (it should be "refer to", not just "refer"), the list in the Specify OOS Rule just doesn't work. With the proposed changes as they are, the list becomes a "do this AND this" section, when it should be a "do this OR this". The rule basically now says that songs should be tagged with both main OOS tags, and that they should have cover unifiers, TouhouDB / UtaiteDB originals, and descriptions. I think you're on the right track with separating it out into a list, though. |
- Clarify by doing one of the following, not all of it - Use "attribute" instead of "refer"; "referred to by" sounds weird - Remove duplicate sentence regarding OoS on "Specify original" - Little bit of linguistic adjustments
Good catch. I forgot to write "one of" as in "one of the following".
I changed to "attribute" because "referred to by" sounds funny. |
This one quite doozy and took a while to consider.
I was going to mention "mentioning it on the description" on the "Specify original" rule, since the rule also covers out-of-scope originals, but then I realised that it exists on the "Specify out-of-scope original" rule, loosely connected with the out-of-scope original tag rule ("Include the [original out-of-scope] tag."). I also was going to think that doing that would make the rule overlap to one to each other (rule 1 applies for OoS, rule 2 applies on "included as an external link (required for UtaiteDB originals).", rule 3 applies on "specified in the song description").
Then, I got an idea to just strictly refer the rule "Specify out-of-scope original" on the "Specify original" rule and moving the OoS tagging rule to the OoS rule. This bypasses the loose connection of the out-of-scope original tagging rule and making the OoS rule reserved for handling OoS originals.
Also, having "human original tag or the instrumental original tag" is too long for me to like it, so this PR also solves that by making it on a list.
