What's the benefit of this plugin over Claude's existing memory/session?

In claude code you can /resume a preivious session, and /compact it for token conservation.

What's the added benefit of this repo? Was it created before the native claude code features?

With Claude Code now supporting /resume and /compact, I'm curious what additional value this repository provides.

Is the main benefit something beyond session persistence and context compression, such as:

More advanced memory management?
Cross-project or long-term knowledge retention?
Better search/indexing of previous sessions?
Team/shared workflows?
Integration with external storage or tooling?

Or was this project originally created before Claude Code introduced its native /resume and /compact features?

I'd be interested in understanding the current use case and how it complements the built-in functionality.
