The Perl and Raku Foundation 🐪 🦋
We're a volunteer-led non-profit dedicated to advancing the Perl and Raku programming languages and the communities that build them.
For over two decades we've funded the work that keeps these languages healthy - from core development to the CPAN ecosystem that millions of systems quietly depend on every day.
What we're working on
- Grants funding core development, tooling, and documentation
- CPAN security - coordinated vulnerability response and supply-chain hardening through the CPAN Security Group
- Conferences and events that bring the community together and welcome new contributors
- Infrastructure the wider ecosystem relies on, kept running and maintained
Why your sponsorship matters
We're funded almost entirely by the people and organisations who depend on this software. There's no large vendor underwriting Perl and Raku - the foundation is how the community pools its support and
puts it to work.
Your sponsorship goes directly to:
- development grants paid to the people doing the work
- security and supply-chain protection across CPAN
- conference bursaries and community events
- the infrastructure that keeps the ecosystem dependable
If your business runs on Perl, or you've ever relied on a CPAN module in production, sponsorship is a direct, practical way to keep that foundation strong. 💛

Sustained CPAN security At this level we can fund CPAN's security operations as a reliable, always-on service rather than volunteer best-effort. This goal sustains: - a round-the-clock response team for security issues across CPAN - ongoing vulnerability triage, disclosure, and remediation through the CPAN Security Group - the infrastructure the ecosystem depends on - CPAN Testers, core repositories, and MetaCPAN CPAN is supply-chain infrastructure for millions of systems. This is the baseline that keeps it protected, monitored, and dependable - every day, not just when someone has spare time. 🛡️
