terms "acceptance criteria" and "acceptance tests" used interchangeably in documentation

The terms "acceptance criteria" and "acceptance tests" in the documentation are used interchageably. Is it possible to streamline into one term? It would improve consistency/readability.

Before answering your question, can you confirm that the following is true: Acceptance Criteria = business domain criteria required to be valid Acceptance Test = the automated means of checking that the Acceptance Criteria have been met ? Or is this incorrect?
