Compatibility of project files from version 1.x

There is no option to import—even in a limited way—an XML project file from an older version. The lack of an import feature will force active users of the program to stick with the old version, and even to “freeze” it in their projects in binary form.

Technically, the project files for the old and new versions are still very similar, and hopefully implementing an import for version 1.x projects won’t be too difficult.

Any loss of compatibility must be strictly justified, such as when the operating system manufacturer ends support for the OS, or when a third-party library on which the program depends is released with a security vulnerability fixed. 🤔 Any other reason would be counterproductive.

I believe that for the new major version, it is not necessary to keep backwards compatibility. But you can offer PR to keep backwards compatible.
