Support for trash bin?

Sry, there is no support for Recycle Bin with winfile.

Just for a brain dump:

• It's possible for applications to send files to the recycle bin via SHFileOperation. I don't think explorer needs to be running for this.
• If the goal were to not run explorer, the very next issue is about managing the recycle bin (allowing it to be browsed or emptied.) There is SHQueryRecycleBin and SHEmptyRecycleBin, but as far as I know actually enumerating it and allowing manipulation of its contents implies enumerating the shell namespace, not the file system namespace. That's a big thing to do.
• Personally I've felt that having winfile depend on shell32 facilities in general seems a little strange, since it exists to replace explorer logic, not to expose explorer logic.
• Also, and this is just a fairly subjective comment, I think it's more natural to replace explorer with a program launcher (progman) than a file manager. I wrote a minimal taskbar/start menu thing which I use when explorer isn't available (server core) which is a nice compliment to file manager. See screenshot or code.

It would be great if Microsoft re-released PROGMAN.EXE with its source code, although there is a small drawback, since W9X the behavior of the MDI Childs has changed, they are no longer icons, they just look like compact title bars.

Speaking of W9X, it came with the GRPCONV.EXE that turned .GRP files into folders for the start menu. This tool should also come back, perhaps built into the program manager itself, as well as the ability to do the opposite, convert folders to .GRP files.

Progman was developed for Windows 3.0 (like file manager!) and a lot of facilities weren't available then. Personally I've been wanting to rewrite Progman using the ListView control (which takes care of all of the icon display, dragging etc) that Progman had to implement manually/painfully. Using ListView, Progman ought to be very simple.

The group file format was documented in the Windows 3.1 SDK. Just note that shortcuts can contain things that groups can't, including all of the console properties. But didn't NT's Progman store groups in the registry?

There is a version of progman compiled in 2001 for XPSP1, MD5: 31bf008a469ed5e726685598c9e430b3
is this a version which source could be added to the tools dir in winfile, or released as a separate project?

Program Manager source availability would be pretty nice. I've been working on the rewrite of it but haven't done much at all on it recently. The ReactOS Program Manager is further along than anything I have and works better than the janky hex-edited progman that a few sites host.
