Job request is not valid - fresh install of temurin-21-jdk/ pipeline2-1.15.2_debian.deb/ cli-2.3.0-linux_386.deb

Hi,

on a fresh virtualbox ubuntu 24 I've installed the pipeline as follows:

sudo apt-get install wget apt-transport-https gpg
wget -qO - https://packages.adoptium.net/artifactory/api/gpg/key/public | sudo gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/adoptium.gpg > /dev/null
echo "deb https://packages.adoptium.net/artifactory/deb $(awk -F= '/^VERSION_CODENAME/{print$2}' /etc/os-release) main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/adoptium.list
sudo apt update
sudo apt install temurin-21-jdk

wget https://github.com/daisy/pipeline-assembly/releases/download/v1.15.2/pipeline2-1.15.2_debian.deb
sudo dpkg -i pipeline2-1.15.2_debian.deb
wget https://github.com/daisy/pipeline-cli-go/releases/download/v2.3.0/cli-2.3.0-linux_386.deb
sudo dpkg -i cli-2.3.0-linux_386.deb

Then changed /opt/daisy-pipeline2/etc/pipeline.properties to org.daisy.pipeline.ws.localfs=true

Restarted the service

service daisy-pipeline2 stop
service daisy-pipeline2 start
service daisy-pipeline2 status

and try to validate a 2.02 dtb

/opt/daisy-pipeline2-cli/dp2 daisy202-validator --source test/ncc.html --output daisy_test

I get this error:

Job request is not valid

With less test/ncc.html I get the correct content of the ncc.html, the file is readable.

How can I fix the error?
I would be very grateful for help in continuing our DTB production.

Now I've installed daisy-pipeline2 on another fresh ubuntu 24 with temurin 21, like above but installing go manually:

sudo rm -rf /usr/local/go
wget -c https://go.dev/dl/go1.25.2.linux-amd64.tar.gz
sudo tar -C /usr/local/ -xzf go1.25.2.linux-amd64.tar.gz

Setting the path in .profile

# set PATH so it includes /usr/local/go/bin if it exists
if [ -d "/usr/local/go/bin" ] ; then
    PATH="/usr/local/go/bin:$PATH"
fi

logged out and on and checked if go is properly running.

I've extracted cli-2.3.0-linux_amd64

and try to validate a book:

./dp2 daisy202-validator --source /home/myname/Temp/DAISY/ncc.html --output test_daysi

I get this Error again:

In the log:

No, it's on the same machine.
Until now, I've try it on 2 different ubuntu 24.4 machines and one ubuntu 24.4 virtual machine, but always running pipeline server and dp2 on the same machine.
On one of this machines, I've try all java (temurin) versions from temurin-11 to 21...all with the same error.

I don't know... 😳 🤯.

The issue make no sense at all. You are running the CLI and the server on the same machine, and you're not using Docker. And yet the error tells me that the file does not exist (according to Java).

Since I can not reproduce it, the only thing I can think of that you can do, is to try and debug it yourself, or if you are unable to do that, we must find a way to do some pair programming, i.e. me producing new builds while I can watch along with you on your machine (and possibly have control too).

By the way, you don't need to install any go packages.
