Guide to port watcfaces to the InkWatch system?

I am not really into C/C++ programming, but I may able to try to port my favourite watchface, watchy_orbital.

Specifically, I would like to port it and use that feature for battery saving (updating only the needed parts) which is reported as being supported in this firmware/OS.

I don't see any document pointing me where to start. I need to notify I am a Watchy v1 user too.

Hi, I will write here since I don't use Discord. I checked at the example but it seems that the suggestion is just for new watchfaces.

I don't really know how to port an existing one. I see there are some imports for defines.h or rtcMem, but I don't see any of the examples using watchy.h or any other include which is present in the watchy watchfaces.

Is there something I am missing? or there are equivalents for the same operations?

there is no really a "import", you would need to port it, look what does what in watchy orbital and write equivalent code for inkwatchy

I saw some old watchfaces ported and I was thinking in trying that and looking for the equivalent parts in one version (the original) and the one ported here but I don't find anything similar to start with.

Those were gsr watchfaces, not watchy ones and they don't support partial writing

well, arduino level understanding for c++ is needed to do that, no other way around it

I guess then that my only option is waiting for someone to port it if they are interested too and have the knowledge to do it. Even if it is not with partial writing, at least to render using this firmware and not the previous one with all the disadvantages that it has.

Sure! I’ve already opened a PR for it here: #102

It adds the Orbital watchface (orbital_Defaltastra) and integrates it into the watchface manager.
